Bonding Bonding is an excellent way to fix cosmetic and structural imperfections in your smile, such as discoloration, chips, and gaps--usually in just one visit. Using material that matches the color, translucency and texture of your teeth, Dr. Tryon is able to sculpt natural, beautiful restorations. Bonding is often used to repair a broken front tooth, and for correcting imperfections to create a more uniform and attractive smile. Chipped tooth before treatment Bonding is also an effective way to fix a diastema or space between the two front teeth. This procedure can be completed in one visit. Diastema before treatment |

Crowns & Bridges A crown is a covering that fits over the tooth to provide a durable and natural looking restoration. Crowns are used to protect the remaining tooth structure of a damaged tooth or for purely aesthetic reasons--to change the shape, color or appearance of your teeth. Crowns can be made of different materials; porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold. The doctor will discuss with you which type of crown will function best for you, while adhering to the aesthetic principles that keep your smile beautiful. This procedure often takes two visits. At the first visit, the doctor will prepare the (damaged) tooth and craft a customized, natural looking temporary crown. In approximately four weeks, you will return for the second visit to cement the completed crown. A properly prepared crown can last 15-30 years with consistent home hygiene care and regular office cleanings. Natural looking temporary crown Damaged tooth in need of restoration A dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns are cemented to the teeth which are on either side of the missing tooth. This procedure is often used to replace one or more missing teeth. |

Composites or White Fillings Tooth-colored fillings are a much stronger and more attractive alternative to silver amalgam fillings. By precisely matching tooth-colored composite fillings with the natural color of your teeth, a skilled cosmetic dentist is able to provide you with fillings that are almost invisible. One of the drawbacks of silver amalgam fillings is that they are not actually bonded to the tooth, making them more susceptible to recurring decay. Amalgam fillings also expand and contract, which continually “flexes” the tooth, often creating cracks or fractures in the base of the tooth over time. The new aesthetic composite materials are actually bonded to the tooth. That refers to a chemical and micro-mechanical technique that strongly binds or bonds the material to the surrounding tooth structure. The resulting restoration restores not only function and beauty, but returns much of the original strength to the tooth. It has been shown that a large silver filling can reduce the strength of a tooth up to 70%, while bonded aesthetic fillings can return the tooth to near its original strength. Veneers Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite material which are bonded over the front of your teeth to change the color, shape or proportions of your teeth. Whether your teeth are chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced, or crooked, veneers can bring about an exceptional cosmetic result. Veneers also are an alternative to crowns when there is sufficient healthy tooth structure. With veneers, teeth can be brightened and enhanced, giving you a more youthful, attractive smile. To complete the treatment for the following patient, the doctor combined veneer and crown restorations to produce this successful smile. Before treatment |

Implants and Implant-Retained Dentures A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. High-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth; providing you confidence that affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. Dental implants can also be used to retain, or support a denture. The solid support and permanent retention of an implant retained denture provides complete peace of mind to the denture wearer. Teeth Whitening Teeth whitening, or bleaching, can help you achieve your brightest, healthiest smile and take years off your appearance. Teeth naturally darken with age or may be discolored due to medication, coffee, tea, cigarettes or other substances. Our Deep Bleaching Treatment offers a highly effective whitening solution which provides a deep and long lasting result. First, we create custom bleaching trays to protect your gums while offering an even displacement of the whitening solution on the surfaces of the teeth. Then, two one-hour, in-office whitening sessions are combined with take home trays to get your teeth the whitest possible shade. When your teeth reach the whiteness you desire, your custom trays and solution are yours to keep, enabling you to maintain the brightness of your smile for years to come. Before treatment |

Bruxism and Bite Splints Many people struggle with bruxism, or grinding teeth. Unfortunately, most grinding happens when sleeping, so it is a hard habit to break. A sign of this condition is worn down or flat teeth, recession of gum tissue and sore jaw joints. The fastest and most effective way to treat bruxism is the use of a customized bite splint or occlusal orthotic device. It is crafted from clear plastic and worn on either the top or the bottom teeth. The splint is equilibrated to perfectly fit your bite; protecting your joints and teeth from further wear. If you have this condition and want to restore your worn teeth, a bite splint is a necessity. Because the habit of bruxism is so hard to break, once your restorations have been placed we suggest you continue to wear your bite splint at night to add greater longevity to your new smile. Wax-Ups or Tooth Models When a patient comes to us needing significant restorative work, Dr. Tryon personally sculpts a wax-up, or waxed tooth model to physically illustrate what can be done to improve the smile and bite. This wax-up is similar to a blueprint for a house, enabling both the doctor and the patient to see what can be done to improve the function and beauty of a smile. Each tooth is measured and sculpted proportionally to fit the patient as well as provide a balanced bite. By using this effective tool, both the doctor and the patient can confidently proceed with treatment. Current smile |
